Our first day of live action video shooting arrived and we received the permission to film off location at the stunning Location of Bolton Abbey. When we arrived we went around the location with our detailed shot list making the radical shots that needed to be done for the movie. At Location I took some shots of the Abbey , And the surroundings and also the textures that will be used within the production at the later stages.

Bolton Abbey was the perfect location to film as the area was very steam punk feel around the location, Which is vital to making this video a success. Bolton Abbey is in Skipton and most famous for such things as Harry Potter , It is also known to host many weddings and special occasions attracting tourists to see the Gothic Victorian style church.

Special Effects - Muzzle Flash

Here is a short clip I have created using Sony Vegas pro 11 , which is a moving image of a guy with a gun but the clip to start did not have any gun shots or sound FX , I have now created this clip by adding this to it and this is the clip I have made.

Textures

Textures are important within our production for the paradox 1915 as some will be computered generated and will need good textures to give us the optimist effect within its edit. 

Some of the following textures will be used with the trailer to give it that more realistic look to the course .

Creating an steam punk looking clock

Here I had to use a little of my imagination and try and steam punk a thermostat so that it would look as if it's half of a clock ..... How did I do it ? 

Stage 1: Tape the clear glass with some colour tape so no spray paint will cover the dial which we want to see. 

Stage 2 : I needed to decide on the base colour for the clock , I decided to go for Black as the base to give it that old dirty look. 

Stage 3 :  Once the black is dry. I will then add a new coat this time silver and gold / copper these colours will add more definination to the finished product / Model. 

Stage 4: When I'm happy with the product I will then remove the tape I added to cover the dial to reveal a clear sheet of transparent plastic. 

Once the item is completed I will then add this to Both Models. 

Steampunk gun 2

Within my project I have decided to create a second steam punk gun at home by using a toy earth gun spraying it and adding different items and here are my results so far with more needing to be added .

How did the earth gun look to start with ? 

Spray painting the bolts and screws to give them a rusted effect . 

Creating items for the Paradox 1915 Production

Within our task I had to create various items,That we will use within out Paradox production.

How I created my Own Steam Punk Inspired Gun 

Stage 1: within this stage I had to bring in a large plastic bottle which will now become the barrel/base of my steam punk inspired gun . 

Stage 2: I then had to use a Stanley knife to cut around the top of the bottle removing the top half so it would be easy to attach a plastic tube to make it look more like a gun. 

Stage 3: Once all the items are intact I then was underway spray painting the base.

As you can see within this image I needed to following items to create the steam punk aspects of my gun, 

Here are some images spanning different angels etc .

Once I reached this stage and the gun was secured with Gaffer tape , as the items used was heavier than the plastic base  this was the best option to secure it for the time being. 

Stage 5 : Was to Place Plaster/Paper Mashe over the complete model clearing all the Black Gaffer tape for spray Painting but only covering the gaffer so it all stays in tack and strong .

Above Image : Showing the Base of the gun with some Rubber tubing arising from the barrel this will soon be a steam Powered Gun with a Stream Punk Clock Added to the end of the tubing. I will also be adding some bolts and pins near to the end of this project which will be added at a later date . 

Above Image : Is of the gun completed in Plaster from the Back showing the entire model as it stands today. The next stages will be to Spray Paint and add items to this gun Model.

Audience is extremely Important when it comes to producing items such as our project ( Paradox 1915) as we have to take into account the Age ratings , and what type of movie / TV trailers are doing well within typical trends to help make the trailer a success rather than a flop.To help the Paradox 1915 we will conduct different types of  research to market our film to its highest Potential by doing. 

• Survey's 
• Looking at different Film trends within Box Office 
• Researching cost's 

 


 

Successful Advert Campaigns - Virgin Atlantic 2011

Whose it aimed at?

This Ad campaign is aimed at people who enjoy Flying or going on aboard and want to travel to a certain Luxury to start their holiday off to a good start. (Business Class People) with a small Niche Market for Normal Class people.

What was its Appeal?

The Ad’s Appeal has to be the classic red stewardess as that’s one of virgin’s most noticeable colour and also the wide range of holiday destinations they travel and also showing the luxury of traveling with them.

Do you think it is effective?

I feel the ad is extremely effective within the way the ad has been placed together showing loads of extras and showing their destinations and expressing the comfort of traveling with virgin Atlantic and it will also bring good marketing within word of mouth helping virgin grow to a bigger and more successful Business .
